Winter Fun

We decided we should go sledding at least once this year. I was proud of myself for getting the girls in their snow clothes so fast. Getting two kids dressed for the snow is not an easy task. Ellie has a blast sledding, Jared got close to 20,00 steps that day on his fitbit. It was a great 30 minutes of sledding. Next year we will be buying a new sled and replace the orange saucer that I used when I was a kid. Love Love Love making memories with this little family!

January

January, ugh! We all came down from the high of the holidays and now the endurance race begins. We can make it to Spring, we just have to keep going, surviving the cold winter days by envisioning open windows, playing outside, going to the park, flip flops, etc. We are going a little stir crazy, and I'm getting testy.

January began with Ellie starting Sunbeams! Of course she did great, who knows what she spouts off to her teachers. I't sure it included lots of dino facts. I love hearing the tidbits she learns in class.

"the story bout the guy with the lions and they were his friends"

Usually when I ask her if she remembers what songs she learned she says "the one about Jesus"

Uncle Isaac came to town and we had family over which is always fun and always included the siblings breaking into song.

Ellie has started rough housing with Rosie lately. Rosie is a good sport and definitely lets us know when she is done playing.

Ellie has the new responsibility of feeding the dog. She does great carrying the full bowl up from the basement, the spills have become less frequent.

My mouse eating some cheese.

Ellie LOVES helping in the kitchen. This stool.....its a love hate relationship. Some days I excitedly tell Ellie to get her stool and help me at the counter. Other times it's Ellie's idea to help and pulls the stool up at the most inconvenient time, usually setting the stool on my feet. Those are the times I feel like throwing the stool out the back door.

There are moments standing there baking something when Ellie will put her arm around me and say " I love cooking with you." or pucker her lips and look at me waiting for a kiss. It's moments like that, that I realize I need to slow down, take a deep breath and let her measure the flour or pour in the vanilla. Whats the rush? Right?

We have been doing a reward chat to encourage Ellie to eat her dinner and have good manners at the table. If she gets 5 happy faces on the chart through the course of the week she gets a reward on Saturday. We've gone to kangaroo zoo, and ice skating. We should probably be more consistent with the chart, because when we are it works.

She could be a baby model, she's that cute!

Much needed date night with Jared. Cheesecake Factory, The Revenant, Blue Lemon dessert. Perfect evening.

Our new addition to the house....a treadmill. It took three guys to get it down the stairs. We're enjoying it, lets hope we start getting in shape!

Dance parties have become a staple in our house, so much so we stepped up the game and got a party light. Its so fun! Our backyard neighbors thought the cops were at our house....nope just a dance party.

Ice skating!!! Ellie had a blast. Jared had a sore back back and hamstrings.

Those skates! Adorable!

Ellie set the table ALL BY HER SELF! I didn't even have to ask her, she did it all on her own.

This is how we are feeling after the cold month of January. Let the endurance race begin. We can do this!
