October Outings

One month after having Lucy and I was feeling fantastic. Like lets go out and about fantastic. I still can't believe it since it took 6 to 8 weeks for me to feel like doing anything after I had Ellie.

We took a drive to the Great Salt Lake Shore lands Preserve in Layton. I had seen a few photos of this place and decided it was time to check it out.

The boardwalk circled about a mile of the wetland with benches and information station about the ecosystem. These structures were awesome. Too bad the one with the stairs was covered with bees and we couldn't get to the top to look out.

"mom not another picture!"

I usually tend to stay far away from free days here in Utah, but when there was a free day to the natural history museum we had to take advantage. Luckily we were able to reserve tickets so it wasn't insanely crowded. So Ellie and Dinosaur bones = heaven.

Settling In

June was about as busy as May. I think we have officially settled in to our house. There may be a few boxes in closets, but whatever is in those boxes must not be very important since I haven't had a need for it in a month.

My parents came to visit, and it was so great. They have lived in their home for 30+ years, so I would say they are home owner experts. We tackled numerous projects and they delivered our old family piano and my Grandma's hutch. Thanks mom and dad!!

Jared is pretty much in heaven having a garage! You should have seen the plans he designed for this work bench!
The flower beds in the front of the house had really ugly red wood chips so we took it out and planted some plants. Guara, lavender, creeping thyme, a popcorn tree, and Shasta Daisy's.

This poor old apple tree had to go! It was DEAD. There were hardly any leaves and wasn't going to be producing any fruit.

I'd say my parents are enjoying themselves

Exploring Fort Buenaventura Park

Two Grandma's in town at the same time. Ellie is one lucky lady!

A re purposed childhood toy from my brother! Ellie will get a lot of use out of this thing!

This may have been Jared's highlight of the week. They found the on/off switch for out ancient sprinkler system. Hallelujah!

Ellie helped too!

Explored Antelope Island with my parents. It was a beautiful day.

We have lots more planned for the month of July...stay tuned!

Highway 1 South

Driving south on Highway 1 down the coast is pretty hard to describe. The pictures speak for themselves.

Jared had never been further than Carmel, so we took a drive. We headed down to Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park. Better known as the place where there is a waterfall on a beach. I don't know if we could have asked for a more beautiful day. I say it over and over but I am so happy this is what I have to come home to. I grew up in an amazingly beautiful place and I'm happy I still get to go home to visit.
