Eureka Part 3 | Sequoia Zoo and Camel Rock

Checking out the flamingos

Look mom I'm a spider!

petting the goats

for some reason the goats loved Ric haha

We loved having down time to relax and hang out at the house. We missed everyone but it was nice to have the house to ourselves!

Jam Session!

Put Ellie down and got to go for a walk to stinky beach, just the two of us!

Jared had a spur of the moment family photo shoot the last day we were in Eureka. We couldn't have asked for a better day to go to the beach. Ellie had a blast playing in the water with Grandpa and got nice and sandy.

Words can't even describe how sweet these moments were.

Peek-a-Boo!

We were very happy to get home with two days before Jared started his first day at his new job. We are so glad we got the chance to make it to Eureka. We were really really sad to leave. Every time we get to Sacramento on our journey home I realize that it's only about 3 hours to Salinas, and it kills me to not just keep driving south! It's so very hard living away from our parents, and we definitely contemplate moving back to California. Now is not that time, but who knows what the future will bring. Utah keeps drawing us back.

Eureka | Part 2

Jared and I always talk about all the places we would like to vacation to, then we think about our family and where we come from and that trumps anywhere we could possible go. We missed the reunion which was a bummer but we got mom and dad, and grandma and grandpa ALL to ourselves. The weather was absolutely amazing, which tricks you into thinking you should move to Humboldt county. This in fact is a fluke, it is cold and rainy most of the year. Ellie was in love with Grandpa's house, as most people are. There is so much to look at and discover!

Ellie loved the train like the rest of the grand kids.

Eating in the vintage high chair.

Composting with Grandma. Ellie frequented the backyard to visit the blueberry bushes. She would pick them herself, even the green ones.

Jared took a day to hang out and work at Grandpa's with Issac and Nicholas. Cutting down branches and bushes. Good quality time with Grandpa.

We loved spending time with Issac. He is such a typical teenager! It's hard to remember what it was like to be a teenager, he is a good reminder.

We came a little later and Ellie helped out by getting rides in the wheelbarrow.

Seriously this pictures is perfect. SO SWEET!

Chit chatting with Grandpa about his garden.

Grandpa Ric taking Ellie on a wheelbarrow ride to pick blackberries. Did I mention Ellie loves berries of any type.

And this, there was a lot of this. Jared and Grandpa talking about anything and everything. They are so much alike. It meant so much to Jared to be able to spend time with Grandpa.

Then Great Grandpa turned on his fountain and Ellie really fell in love. I mean WATER, she loves water more than rocks and sticks.

Took a trip down to Table Bluff. I really wanted to collect some more drift wood and this was the place to do it!

All the tsunami zone warning signs freak me out. I know it's not very likely but the thought of if scared me. This was most definitely a tsunami zone, water on BOTH sides!

Watching your child play at the beach definitely make you think you have to move near the ocean. She loved it!

Drift wood central! I collected a whole bag!

Walked out to the jetti, can you believe that stump? What kind of wave washed that thing up? A massive one!

Funny story about the picture below. Jared got out of the car and walked maybe 6ft from the car into some brush to snap the photo. He go back in the car and we drove back up to the overlook and as he got out of the car I noticed a spider on his back. Well it was no spider it was a TICK! It wasn't the only one either, he had about 6 ticks on him. He was standing in the grass for maybe 2 minutes. Jared proceeded to strip down to his underwear ;) We got all the ticks off, but it was gross!

A trip to the Zoo and Camel rock coming up in Part 3.
